About Bråtens
Bråtens is a Norwegian brand established in 1955.
Our story began with the production of warm wool socks made from Norwegian wool for the Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish armed forces, and the Sirius Dog Sled Patrol in Greenland – for extreme cold. Loxy AS acquired Bråtens Fabrikker, Eskimo, in 2018. A year later, a rebranding took place, and the new brand name Bråtens was launched.
Bråtens has been making warm wool garments for over 70 years with a passion for Norwegian wool and warm wool clothing. We still produce those warm, durable wool socks! – the socks that helped start our fantastic story. We produce wool garments for outdoor activities, as well as demanding user groups such as the Armed Forces and the Norwegian police.
Our garments fall under the "slow fashion" category, where we produce timeless and durable garments that you will enjoy for many years.
Our goal is that you should always be able to wear our garments, year after year, and that they remain as relevant as in previous years.
Nature is a constant source of inspiration for us at Bråtens.

Our Production
At our own environmentally certified factory in Romania, we control every step of the process. Our production is not about breaking quantity records. It's about every single wool garment being knitted, sewn, and carefully inspected by people who love their work.
Our production facility is located approximately 100 km from Bucharest, in Buzau, in the heart of southeastern Romania.
At Bråtens, we are very committed not only to creating good and warm wool products but also to our social responsibility. We work closely with our subcontractors to ensure we have control over the country of origin and guarantees for the use of mulesing-free wool.
Our dream is to be able to produce all our garments with Norwegian wool, but this is not possible in all categories. Norwegian wool has a somewhat coarser fiber surface and is therefore very suitable for mid-layers, outer garments, and socks. We prefer to use Merino wool from Australia with its smooth fibers for underwear and t-shirts as the innermost layer, close to the body.
We are always working to develop new ways to use leftover yarn and materials. All other textile waste is sent to recycling facilities.
